>Fake News @CNN & MSDNC keep talking about “Lt. Col.” Vindman as though I should think only how wonderful he was. Actually, I don’t know him, never spoke to him, or met him (I don’t believe!) but, he was very insubordinate, reported contents of my “perfect” calls incorrectly, & was given a horrendous report by his superior, the man he reported to, who publicly stated that Vindman had problems with judgement, adhering to the chain of command and leaking information. In other words, “OUT”.

Trump firing witnesses:

'He was very insubordinate'

Don't cry when the purge occurs.

tbh i'm not fond of how some of the GoP is treating Romney. i can understand wanting to remove him from the caucus. if he's not consistently voting with the caucus, it makes little sense to carry him on it.
this 1 vote though, has just isolated him from the party. literally everyone is baring teeth. it would have been a mature look to accept his decision even when in disagreement, and let him finish out his term with the caucus. (don't think he's removed from caucus yet though)

to what i've read about Nixon, he "needed" to be impeached. granted i have not spent a large amount of time into the subject and could have read all my comparative facts from only 1 side.
to what i recall though, Nixon was doing a lot of cover-up. not by firing and replacing people to create a more efficient system, but by sending secret teams to destroy political opponents offices or worse.

My dad talked about G Gordon Liddy a lot when I was growing up and how he was OG because he was the only one of them who didn't snitch.

This conversation totally brought that back lol.

Obama and Trump have both been very cruel to whistleblowers. We need real legislation to protect them, lest we want the chief executive to have even more potential for corruption.

I'm okay with waiting until the next Democratic President to do it once a Republican Congress is on board to limit their whsitleblower punishment powers. The GOP will not do it if a member of their own team is in the Oval Office. That's okay, I just want what is best for the country in the long-term.

It's like Socrates' argument against Thrasymachus: justice is not just what benefits the strong, because the strong can be tricked into going against their own best interest.

Once again Trump shows us he runs the White House like a capo, demanding unquestioning loyalty of you will be purged.

It's gonna take a long time for the value of the Office and the Presidency to get back to what it was, if that's even possible.

The irrational glorification of the presidency in the U.S. is an anachronism anyway. There are elements of a personality cult around it which applied all the time, irrespective from the officeholder. Trump showing the world how silly and over the board this cult can become, and that the president is also just a fallible human - those are welcome side effects of his presidency if you ask me. He's debunking the myth, and that's for the better.

What Nixon has going on was very very tame compared to what trump has going on.

No, just no...

Agreed. Removing Romney from the caucus over one single vote, no matter how high-profile, is just silly. Particularly when it was a vote of conscience. I hate the slimeball and dont buy the pretentious justification he gave for his vote against Trump, but he doesnt deserve being exiled over it.
