Maybe I should do some more homework on Nixon before making that claim then. I was mostly referring to wiretapping/surveilling and breaking and entering of the Watergate Hotel. I compare the two because they're highly paranoid individuals who know they can't trust the type of people who will work with them...I think conqueror types are like that...seek to dominate and control individuals in their lives and do not have the normal human reaction to being resented for some reason. Republicans in Congress hate and fear him because he can ruin them with a tweet. The strongest among them has been cast out of their party but Romney is strong enough to win in Utah or as someone else here said carpetbag a seat in another state....and he thinks he can be the face of the coming Trump backlash for some reason.
Trump will get a full 8 because he is delivering so well for his base and his base is large. There will be a backlash at the end like there was with Bush, Clinton, and Obama.
tbh i'm not fond of how some of the GoP is treating Romney. i can understand wanting to remove him from the caucus. if he's not consistently voting with the caucus, it makes little sense to carry him on it.
this 1 vote though, has just isolated him from the party. literally everyone is baring teeth. it would have been a mature look to accept his decision even when in disagreement, and let him finish out his term with the caucus. (don't think he's removed from caucus yet though)
to what i've read about Nixon, he "needed" to be impeached. granted i have not spent a large amount of time into the subject and could have read all my comparative facts from only 1 side.
to what i recall though, Nixon was doing a lot of cover-up. not by firing and replacing people to create a more efficient system, but by sending secret teams to destroy political opponents offices or worse.
