I parsed some info source and I can offer a few quick reactions to what is taking place. The operation is bigger than what I had predicted. However, I STILL don’t believe that Russia wants to invade the Ukraine.
Let’s first see what Russia has already done using ONLY HER STANDOFF WEAPONS:
The Ukrainian air defenses have ceased to exist
The Ukrainian air force has ceased to exist
The Ukrainian navy has ceased to exist
The Ukrainian command and control are severely disrupted with many command posts destroyed
All the military airfields in the Ukraine are now not operational
Numerous supply dumps of ammo, petroleum and lubricants have been destroyed.
Russia controls the entire Ukie airspace and all the Ukie coastal waters in the Black and Azov seas.
Next, let’s see what LDNR and Russian forces are, apparently, doing right now:
The LDNR forces have broken through the Ukie defenses in two locations and have penetrated 7-10km behind the LOC.
These forces advanced with fire support from Russia
The Ukie forces have built fortifications for 8 years, so the progress against the bulk of the Ukie ground forces is slow. HOWEVER
It appears that the Russian have decided to encircle the entire Ukronazi force on the Donbass by a pincer movement from the north and south
It is my opinion that Russia will encircle the Ukie forces, the entire Ukrainian force along the LOC and then wait for them to surrender thereby minimizing losses on both sides. In other words, the Russians are trying to lock the Ukies in an operational cauldron and basically remove these forces from the equation.
So basically Ukraine's airforce, navy and air defenses have ceased to exist.
The Russian army advance is being supported by the local DPR/LPR militia forces that are now also advancing and liberating settlements along the front-line. I can only imagine how they feel right now.. they have been waiting for this day for a long, long time, while their friends and family members suffered and died around them.
Now they plan to completely encircle the large force which had been deployed originally to invade Donbass (some 100-110 thousand Ukrainian soldiers) and lock them in a cauldron. Once this is complete, they will be forced to surrender in short order. Those who surrender will be allowed to go home to their families. Nazi war criminals however will be arrested and tried for their many, many war-crimes they inflicted on the Donbass. How ironic.
The world is changing at a very, very rapid pace. The question is, can we get through this transformation without a global thermonuclear holocaust? Don't know, but I do know that Russia has no more illusions regarding the west and is finally fed up to the point that they feel they have no choice but to act now, before it's too late for them.
Putin stated in his speech that in the lead-up to operation Barbarossa, the Soviets pursued a policy of appeasement to try and delay war as long as possible. He said this resulted in the Soviet army being unprepared, was a mistake and is a big part of why they lost 20 million people fighting the Nazi's.
People need to start listening to Russia. Of-course, I predict that leaders in the US and Europe will double-down instead of admit they should stop warmongering against Russia. They will never be able to admit that Ukraine was filled to the brim with fascist thugs. They'll never be able to admit that NATO expansionism puts the world at greater and greater risk of nuclear war. Thus, the march towards ww3 has just accelerated.
Let us hope that reason and sanity prevails in the end.
I believe it will. In the end, humanity will win and world peace will exist for the first time in thousands of years, in a new multi-polar world where nations respect eachother as equals instead of constantly destroying one another.
