the predictable answer from our resident knuckle draggers will be that they and they alone have the correct interpretation of the bible and everyone else is wrong
To be fair, who is to say one way is better than another way? If someone self-identifies as a Christian, they can believe what they want to believe about the Bible.
And that's the problem - we have too many different voices saying too many different things about what the Bible is and is not. IceMage and Widow can say others are not true Christians, but those others can just as easily say that those two are not true Christians because of "x."
In one sense, IceMage and Widow are probably the two Christians I respect on here because they are consistent about that the Bible is divinely inspired and is the word of God.
Other self-identifying Christians that are more apt to critically think about their faith (i.e. TheSnipa) may approach the Bible from a far more cerebral perspective, but this is an interesting dilemma.
Basically, if you are the type of person who possess the ability to critically analyze your own faith, then it doesn't make much sense to be a Christian. You've reached the point of being able to see all of the Bible's contradictions and discrepancies.
If you lack the ability to critically analyze your own faith and/or the Bible, then it makes a lot of sense to be Christian. You don't see any contradictions because there are none; this 20 times translated book is just perfect.
