If there's not enough information to make a decision one way or another, that's pretty easily and quickly discovered. It's obviously not a criminal investigation, but the bar should be and would be be set very high to find Ford's claims credible.
Interview the parties involved and see if there anything to the claims. Should take a few days, max, based on the estimates I've seen. Could have already occured and would probably be concluded before next Thursday.
The reason why the GOP refuses an investigation to occur is obvious - they know there is a legitimate chance Ford's claims are accurate. The timing and content of their letter response after the initial reveal indicates that.
Or it could be the fact that an investigation could take long enough so the Republicans no longer have the Senate majority. The longer the investigation takes the longer scumbag news outlets like CNN can spam "news" and influence plebs into voting against "the party that defends sexual assault".
Honestly, I feel like we're in the twilight zone. Like wtf is there to investigate? She'll get up there and talk about how she's been traumatized for the last 35 years because some drunk guy groped her when they were teens at a party? Fuck me, what a world we live in when this is enough to completely destroy a person.
If this is the precedent like 98% of guys in this world should be looking over their shoulder if they ever run for office. I know personally in my past, i've had enough relationships that at least one of these chicks might be willing to be a spiteful bitch 20 years later just to fuck me over.
