No it originated from a bunch of cavemen with clubs jumping from behind a tree and robbing people. Then it evolved to well its unsustainable to rob people for everything we just charge them a small toll to pass through that they wont avoid us entirely and we can have a constant income stream. Just unpleasant enough so they can tolerate it. To then "protection for money" to kings and fief lords and churches providing services that instead of clubbing people told them its for their own good otherwise jesus will strike them with a lvl 95 thunderbolt.
Further the idea evolved to its good for you because we are too powerful and you are too dependent on our services so you have to pay this "tax" (extortion) to us.
I mean your interpretation is completely unnecessarily negative and cynical, but at least you realize that we've come a long way from being cavemen.
Also, there's a concept that you are on the fringe of coming to so I'll make it in the hopes you realize why there's nothing "wrong with the system."
You know there's absolutely nothing in our system of society that prevents you from becoming successful correct? If you want to be powerful and rich then there are just choices you have to make to obtain those things. I'm not saying it's easy because it's clearly not, but you will only fail in your pursuits because of your own decisions. I mean the richest guy in the world started out by selling books in his garage for crying out loud. Do you really think the system is that bad if a complete nobody can become the richest person on Earth? To me that seems like capitalism is working correctly.
Edit: And if that doesn't work you can just run for office and collect your government paycheck... I think you've probably figured out by now that most politicians just lie to get elected. I mean look at George Santos.
