Yeah, Taibbi said he was given the information with certain conditions, without telling anyone what the conditions were. Not very transparent.

I don't really care that Twitter's former bosses are getting dragged into the mud but Elon should let a real journalist receive this information. The problem is he doesn't care about persuading anyone that doesn't already agree with him, much like Trump, so we'll probably never know the real truth. The first twitter files release was a total nothingburger, the second is a little more interesting, but we have no way of knowing what to make of it without seeing more.

Taibbi is a real journalist. You aren't going to be persuaded no matter what. Its an integrity deficit.

If Elon really wanted this story to be objective he'd just send a data dump to Reuters and say "do what you want with this". not piecemeal release it to one guy selectively under secret conditions.

i havent had many issues with Elon on this front, i like Taibbi, but this relationship isn't open and transparent, no matter how much i like the stories coming out of it.

Sure, Elon is catering to people like you who hate objective journalists and anyone else who doesn't serve up stories that appeal to your intellectual priors. But if you want to convince anyone outside of your bubble, we're going to need more than contrarian substackers serving up what Elon gives them. The notion that Elon couldn't find a single journalist at a real organization who he can trust on some level is the sort of propaganda that usually only comes from the Trump cult. I'm thinking Elon has started a cult of his own.

Taibbi has a great track record of putting integrity and truth above partisanship.

A perfect example of the sort of cultish mindset I was talking about. "Nobody outside of our group has any credibility and should be shunned". Okay, fine, so expect nobody outside your group to take these revelations that seriously if you are unwilling to give a real journalist the information.

I think it does matter whether Twitter was limiting visibility based on ideology/partisan affiliation, which is why I want someone credible to be able to tell us so.

Yes, you did say that. You believe everyone who is part of the "establishment" or the "mainstream" is not credible. You characterize my call for an objective journalist someone who is a "MSM propagandist". At least be honest about what you believe and say.

There's tens or hundreds of journalists out there who would be credible to everyone outside of the most extreme. Maybe there's even some you would deem credible. I'm asking Elon to give this information to one of them.
