I reference Mexico, check-mate.
allright, I should have probably said "developed" country. You got me there.
https://worldpopulationreview.com/country-rankings/gun-deaths-by-country - some data on homicide rates (a bit outdated but probably not much has changed...). Yes, Mexico is a bit higher up the ranking even though not that much but looking at the US and its piers really its still ~5x more likely to die of homicide in the US compared to other developed countries/regions such as Canada, Australia or Europe. So really what do all those guns help in that regard? Also it creates much more opportunity for suicides and accidents to have that many guns around (the accidents are not even in the linked statistic - here another related to that:
https://www.aftermath.com/content/accidental-shooting-deaths-statistics/ - the victims are mostly children and young adults).

That is only gun crime.
Other types just replace it.
Does it matter how you die in a crime?
Your dead either way.
yea but if there is no gun involved the chance to die in that crime is lower than if a gun is involved. Sure, some bad guys will still somehow get their hands on weapons if they so desire but honestly I think if is generally harder to get a gun, the chance to encounter them e.g. during a robbery are smaller, maybe because a robber strapped for cash rather uses a knife instead of a gun that may be hard to come by or expensive on the black market
I dont live in the US and honestly I never saw a real gun in my life lol. I refuse to believe that my chance to "die" from gun violence, no matter due to crime or an accident, is the same as in the US where there are litterally more civilian firearms than there are people. Access creates opportunity. And the fact that despites so many guns there isnt "less" crime than in countries with significantly less guns per capita just in my opinion proves my point that these things dont add anything in terms of safety. They are just a tool for a population that has been scared out of their wits to create some sense of security. But then again, look at those 19 "good guys with guns" doing nothing about the shooter in Texas.
