its the only band aid we have for the incoming gaping wound.

redistribution of property is as infeasible as redistribution of wealth. the window for that closed over 200 years ago, if it was ever even open.

some day 300 years in the future people will be living on a corporate space station paying rent to a corporate land lord. the system will never be broken only expanded. humans are nothing but capital to the bourgeoise and that will never change, at least not for imo another 1000 or so years. unless robotic implants make humans worthy of being seen as anything but cattle, but even then you'll just rent your suped up brain to a corporation because its more effective than an algorithm.

Most people have a distorted view of violent crime in the U.S. due to the media. School shootings are tragic and get ratings and full coverage across social media, but in reality they account for fewer than 1% of gun related homicides. Suicides account for nearly 60% of gun related deaths, while gang and domestic violence account for the majority of homicides.

Cities with the most strict gun laws already in place have some of the highest gun violence, and let's just say they aren't legally owned. We've heard it time and time again....new laws will stop criminals from obtaining guns about as well as current laws stop people from getting their hands on drugs. You aren't taking 400+ million guns off the streets of America, at least not in our lifetime.

I've skimmed through and the takes on jsp about this issue are about as awkward as one would expect.

ANNUAL GUN VIOLENCE IMPACTING PEOPLE OF ALL AGES IN THE U.S.
Every year, 117,345 people are shot. Among those:

40,620 people die from gun violence
15,343 are murdered
76,725 people survive gunshot injuries
34,566 are intentionally shot by someone else and survive
23,891 die from gun suicide
3,554 survive an attempted gun suicide
492 killed unintentionally
547 are killed by legal intervention
1,376 are shot by legal intervention and survive
347 die but the intent was unknown
4,471 are shot and survive but the intent is unknown
547 women are killed by their husband or male dating partner**

That's .0003% of the US. And that's just those that were... shot. The deaths are far less.

There's...
197,129 Seasonal flu deaths this year, so far.
991,317 Deaths caused by alcohol this year, so far.
3,255,235 Deaths caused by cancer this year, so far.
16,933,023 Abortions this year, so far.

Seems to me, guns aren't as big a problem as they're made out to be. ^^

Down at the bottom, under the HEALTH heading...

how many shot children are you personally ok with per year? just to get a feeling for when someone like you would take the issue seriously, if at all.

Out of all the people that die in the US, in a year.... .014% are gun deaths.
Or... out of all the people in the US... .000123% die from gun shots.

I love people minimize and rationalize dead children on the internet.

I can't imagine a more godless thing.
