I'm thinking this is more in the way of propaganda than anything else.

Economies are driven by resources, production, and efficient infrastructure. This is why corporations have multiple sources, types, and scale industry spread over many jurisdictions. For IC fabrication, Korea Samsung, USA Micron, etc come to mind. You asserted that TMC is vital to USA national security, but it is not. It's convenient for profit margins. For national security, USA has enough domestic production capability to cover concerns. If USA lost Taiwan TMC, it would be a temporary burden disproportionately felt by consumers. In the bigger picture, USA mineral survey charts are rich as hell, and US industries during WWII proved one of the fastest to ramp up and produce.

The difference is this...

The US has the most ACC, and they are the biggest and baddest... by orders of magnitude.
And they can do... doughnuts!

These giants are more and more at risk with new missiles and even torpedoes.
All this is useless in case of nuclear attack anyway.

On a "positive" note i would add it's great to agress countries which have no nuclear power. (yep, iraq 2 on the table, 1 milion civilians)

The Taiwan Semiconductor Manufacturing Corp being compromised is considered a matter of national security.

I see.

I had always thought that US semi cared about Taiwan for its military/strategic value. They put station troops there.

I think it's probably a bit of both. ^^

Game theory is that when one side controls 90% and the other controls 10%, the one with the 10% wins because they basically have nothing to lose. An example of this is in real estate development. A skyscraper project backed by millions of dollars can be put on hold because some dude owns a shack on a tiny slice of the property and wont sell unless you pay millions. The dude has nothing to lose really so he can hold out. Another example is in politics where the poor might hold all the cards because many are jobless so they can easily spent months protesting, marching, rioting and disrupting while the middle class or upper class have jobs and stuff to do. So the poor wind up getting what they want.

In this war, Russia has 10% or so of the world. The rest of the world united against him with like 90%. Game theory says Putin is in control as he really has nothing to lose, especially with crippling sanctions, etc. on him.

Game theory says Putin should start nuking the US immediately and demanding the world kneel. The world has everything to lose and Putin has nothing to lose. Game theory says Biden will respond to nuclear strikes by kneeling and making Putin emperor of earth. It may sound strange but that would be the expected outcome here.

You might think he definitely has something to lose but not after being made a pariah state. Now he has nothing so hes free to nuke and demand to be made god king of earth

The correct play by the west was to not sanction him until hes cut off. Then putin wouldnt nuke because hes still part of the community and has something to lose

In a standard conflict I might agree but if Russia launches nukes the everyone has nothing left to lose.

Doesn't make any sense for Russia to launch nukes. Just as you stated... then no one has anything to lose...and Russia knows this.
Nukes are a lose-lose situation, and EVERYone knows that.

Even if that's true... if he tries to start a nuke war... he'll get assassinated.

A Russian entrepreneur just put a million dollars on his head, dead or alive.
