Iowa represents the current (D) primary field quite well then.

Well, after the DNC's rules eventually ended up forcing non-white candidates to drop out (only for those same rules to be changed to allow a rich white guy to jump in late), it's not surprising.

Activists are the people who get a candidate elected. They run the phone banks, stuff the envelopes, go door to door, etc. Why should a party invite the disinterested public to tell them who they should campaign for?

Sure, but if the nominee can't be sold to the public by the activists then it doesn't do any good to get the activists going. A system that only allows activist voices will fall as flat as a system that doesn't allow them at all.

Really, if it's activists that get them elected then a normal primary will best reflect the activist's ability to turn out votes from the otherwise apathetic.

5pm they are saying >50% results will be out

Guess that’s close to 100%?

Lol, sometimes they are better off just not talking. “Don’t worry guys we didn’t get hacked or anything, we are just that incompetent!”

prevent stuff like in 2008 when large numbers of GOP voters tossed votes to HRC fearing the black vote. even back then she was looked at as unelectable.

fun fact: during the 2008 Democratic primaries, Hillary got more votes than Obama, but lost the delegate race. one could say she won the popular vote but lost the nomination.
for some strange reason, that wasnt a big deal at all back then, but after 2016, her fans couldnt shut up about 'muh popular vote'.
