I don't think he would stand a chance in his own party with all of the sexual abuse allegations. The GOP would go with someone else. This isn't a Roy Moore situation - they have other options.

Yeah, they backed down pretty quick. I have little doubt Rosenstein wasn't properly responding to Congressional subpoenas. But I also have little doubt that the information Jordan/Meadows wanted was to help them undermine the investigation.
Ultimately, they just didn't have enough internal party support to pursue this impeachment. Most House Republicans probably didn't want to put their name behind something most of the American public would probably see as baseless.
