I'm not saying that you are wrong. I do wonder, does this essentially mean that there is absolutely no way for every country in the continent/world to be prosperous at the same time?

All my life I have heard of people campaigning for less corruption and higher living standards in 2nd and 3rd world countries. Do you believe that this is all just white lies and wishful thinking?

ofc not!

all I'm saying is that we should do our best to elevate our own countries as well as our neighbors as much as possible instead of thinking about some complex super state for which we clearly arent ready.
chasing utopias before the time is right, before every piece of the puzzle is in place, is a one way ticket into a horrible future.

That is definitely true. I do have hopes for a EU superstate in maybe 50 years, but a lot will have to change for that to become feasible

agreed! I also believe that the european people are similar enough in their culture and their interests on the global stage that the formation of "united states of europe" could be a great idea at some point further down the line.
but like ampoo, I think that the current EU is a deeply, irrepairably flawed construct that has to be built up again from the ground. creating "united states of europe" out of the current EU would be a disaster.

The only issue I have with this opinion is the fact that the United States of America somehow seem to work.

There are states such as Texas and Mississippi, which rely quite heavily on federal funding due to various reasons. If a country can sustain this, why couldn't the USEU do the same?

But then of course, the difference between Texas and Maryland is quite negligible when you compare it to the difference between the Netherlands and Estonia.

Just keep the UK and the few other countries that matter out of it.

the british people would gladly be part of the EU if it were not so fucked up

the EU can call itself lucky that there arent more referendums

Sure, honey, whatever you say. The fact that a huge amount of Leave voters failed to do their research before the vote obviously has absolutely nothing to do with it.
