Still don't know exactly what the justification or execution are here though. Biden used the FBI to raid political opponents over completely bogus/contrived reasons and spied on them. That included raiding a journalist for having- but not even publishing- Ashley Biden's diary. Raiding an economist's home for refusing to testify to congress when congress was violating the separation of powers by demanding Navarro testify to Trump's deliberative process. Raiding Roger Stone's home for Mueller's pure process bullshit. And most of all, the utterly disgraceful raid on Mar-a-Lago. In all cases, clear political animus with no underlying harm or crime, and
the FBI carried out raids with guns drawn in the most heavy handed gestapo fashion rather than be a civil affair.
Now, will Trump repeat these abuses? We don't know the reason for the raid. If John Bolton was actively leaking intelligence to the media or foreign governments, or this is in relation to the older Comey-era leaks, and the search was carried out without heavy handed methods, it could be reasonably done.
This is the difference with Bill Barr on the outside of Trump's administration. I respected Barr because he declared that even if Trump's opponents were guilty of ratfuckery, he would rather keep the DOJ aloof from partisan politics and let them get away with it, rather than pursue these kinds of witchhunts.
Patel is not Barr. Maybe he'll be Trump's lapdog and try to persecute his opponents, or maybe he'll try to straddle that knife's edge and fairly prosecute the ratfuckers only to the extent they are due. But nobody ever pulls that off. Its easier to be Beria than Solomon.
