You're talking to a guy that endorsed Trump's attempted murder

These people are evil, full stop.

If I were offered a cool $25 million to live in Canada or Mexico. I'd politely decline. I only want to live in the United States!!

There will be some delay, but yes, when egg producers and retailers negotiate prices, the projected supply for the timeframe of the contract will of course play a major role. If that supply goes down, say because the bird flu has decimated the egg laying plants, prices will obviously go up. How could they not? If anything, you have given an argument that prices should lag changes in the supply by even more.

Some things affect prices directly, others take a longer time. Just out of curiosity, at what time can we agree that if the egg prices are still higher than under Biden you all got played by a con man? 2 months?

You're being intentionally obtuse in a desperate attempt at getting a "gotcha" against Trump where there is none. Iirc, he never promised to bring down the price of every single grocery item. I'm not even sure if he made explicit promises to bring down nominal prices.

What he did promise, and what his voters expect, is increased purchasing power/real incomes, i.e. their income outpacing cost of living. Doesn't matter how we get there. If prices increase by 10% over his 4-year term while incomes go up 20%, voters will see that as a success, not a failure. And based on his energy policies which are geared toward increasing supply, there is reason to hope that he will indeed be able to bring down some nominal prices, too.

I am not obtuse, multiple people here on this very website claimed that egg prices (and gasoline) were one of the main reasons they voted for trump.

Trump himself is very good at making vague statements that his followers can then reinterpret to their liking. "Groceries will be affordable very soon" sure sounds like lowering prices, but since this is clearly not happening he surely meant that you will all earn more :bonk:

Trump is begging for interest rates to be dropped too, so we can only hope that wages are going up.

Otherwise, its just Bidenflation part II.

You do realize egg prices went up before Biden left office. Trump has been in office for like 6 days. None of his work has really even began much yet. Certainly not enough to affect the price of anything it’s grasping at straws at its finest.

It’s absolutely absurd to make the statements you are less than a week into a presidency. This is the kind of debate material you’d find in a 3rd grade classroom. It’s highly unrealistic and void of any of the common sense and facts needed to engage in civil discourse.

What is the acceptable timeframe for trump to lower egg prices? Choose a timeframe and we will check back then.

As a side note, some policies have direct and immediate impact on prices, e.g. tariffs.

I’d say about a year. I mean to be honest Biden was still dealing with Trump’s issues long past that. Heck, some of the issues he was never able to fix. But egg prices right now are due to two things avian flu + fuel costs. It will get better when they breed more mutants.

NOTE: There was a large egg price hike during Biden’s term much earlier too due to bird flu. In all honesty they are focusing a lot on energy restrictions but they need to look into the quality of the products we are ingesting just as much if not more. Chemicals being used in chickens and fruits/veggies have been directly linked to cancers and psychological conditions.

Tariffs can definitely affect pricing that’s another issue. We should drill more here and ship less oil overseas. We also give too much charity across the world at the expense of our own economy.
