If I could write you a prescription for lorazepam, I would.
That would not be good. Benzos are poor for treating anxiety, especially long term. They work for those first acute attacks, but become a source of anxiety themselves as addiction builds, as the addiction is horrible, and withdrawal from a drug does the opposite of that drug (think anxiety attack x 10). Also, benzos are one of two classes of drug you have to schedule detox because like alcohol withdrawl, benzo withdrawal can be fatal.
Also, side effects and feeling dopey all the time.
I would get a physical make sure it isn't a thyroid thing, adenal gland thing, or something with the pituitary, or anything else physiological. Then I would try cbt or dbt instead.
Also exercise is great for depression. Naturally dopamine thing going on there.
Snake, this doesn't constitute medical advice because I can't do anything like that here but no polar disorder is something you should ask about. Bi polar II becUse I bet there is some mania there somewhere.
If you have a care provider and they recommend medicine along with other things it is worth a try. Sometimes the dials just need to be turned a little.
