It is a perfect metaphor though, building a castle out of sand, for capitalism.  It doesn't build anything to last or with an eye for the future, just throw up a cheap prefabricated building based on a template and tear it down when you're done doing whatever you're doing with it.

Capitalism will never build anything enduring like the pyramids, but we can sure make thumb tacks super fast

So we get goods that people want and can use produced cheaply and efficiently instead of incredible amounts labor being used to make gargantuan decadent tombs and monuments built for the bodies of dead dictators and other scum.
How terrible. Im going to lose sleep over this.

Gee, if only we had an endless supply of cheap expendable labor again...

The pyramids were built by paid workers. So I guess you're both off all 3 off both off.

Slave labor?  Not the pyramids.  They were working to create something that has meaning but artisans and not slaves, unlike your capitalist overlords.

damn, back to both off.

its a little crazy how well Hollywood has led that lie straight into the homes of nearly every American, for so long.

Pushing the idea that you cannot be free in a society without money and inequality. That is what I think anyway.

The best movie about ideology and how consumerism works is They Live.

It was in fact a form of slavery being used, just not necessarily chattel slavery.

Would you suggest taxing people to build gigantic pyramids in America or creating new laws saying everyone owes the government a certain amount of work is a good idea? and then pretend its not slavery?
I certainly would prefer the thumb tacks.

Everyone knows capitalists don't pay for their labor.

I tried to get into The Wire, but I literally couldn't finish the first episode.  Dexter is where it's at right now, still on season 1 but it's good shit.

If the first episode didn't suck you in. Not sure you may not enjoy it. But for me it's the best television I've ever watched. The plot, the development of characters and overall the acting is amazing.
