yeah they just want to tax the shit out of it, and ban large sodas and assault hamburgers, and military style fully semiautomatic ghost guns, and choosing to hire someone at a rate you dont like or without men having pregnancy coverage, etc etc etc.
But freedom of choice. Sure.

Last I checked banning soda isn't part of the mainstream progressive platform.

Oh, just that it's at the leading edge instead of the mainstream. Seems totally legit then.

I would venture to say that the majority of Democrats are not in favor of those policies. But hey, I know how it is--it's easier to attack a caricature of the most radical fringe of the party than the party itself.

I don't agree. The progressives in favor of combating climate change and universal health care are usually not the same ones of favor of keeping drugs illegal and banning soda.

My post was intended to be partly humorous/satirical. I dont imagine ghost guns and assault hamburgers are the words on the official platform. I thought that was pretty obvious.
Yet we have seen progressive mayors and other politicians attempt to do ridiculous things like the large soda ban(or put big taxes on it), or ban plastic bags, or ban types of guns when they haven't bought a clue as to what they are talking about, and have widespread authoritarian views on just about anything commerce related etc etc.

The evidence of widespread anti-choice sentiment and policy within the "progressive" left is overwhelming and pervasive, and extends far beyond those issues.
That hes even trying to assert they are radically pro-choice is beyond belief.

Some ranking progressives literally had and support a large "soda ban" in a place where progressives have power. Thats not hyperbole.
Reportedly "Approximately 32,000 written and oral comments were received in support of the proposal"

That it was deemed illegal and is wildly unpopular with regular people makes it a poor talking point for widespread appeal in broader non-regressive left areas.
Efforts to massively tax things like soda to coerce people into changing their behavior to fit the progressive agenda persist.

Journals do nothing but proliferate and 32000 could have been made by one think tank over the course of a few weeks.

Fallacy of composition.
