think it's possible to get them to this state without hurting their feelings at some point?

Perhaps no, but as long as your intention isn't primarily to cause hurt feelings and hope they'll act through that it's all good.

food with poor nutrition still has caloric value and isn't only consumed by unhealthy or obese people

everything done or consumed in excess can have negative health consequences including sitting on your ass and over exercising

cancer sticks have no value to the body and people stopped smoking because of the ridiculous taxes not from all the warnings and pictures

Smoking declined with the numbers it did because of the prices.

People know cigarettes and big macs are unhealthy when it hits the wallet is when a majority of people get the push to finally stop

one cigarette isn't going to kill you and i've smoked before, getting addicted to it is the problem so we need to find ways to discourage people from getting hooked on junk food - i'm open to ideas on how to achieve this along with shifting tax dollars towards making healthy eating cheaper

i had a not so different conversation with a friend of mine last week

this mentality seems to be everywhere - ironically said friend i talked to initially played a big role in getting me onto healthier foods but now he's got depression and started eating junk and can't seem to bring himself out of it

People that seek help for weight loss are usually very misinformed as are their friends that give advice like the text

Low carb is unsustainable and I never recommend it.

People do fad diets and unhealthy temporary changes mixed with over exercising that result in binges and weight gain

They use the gym to justify "cheat meals" which include large cups of sugar water from coffee shops and gas stations

I don't even recommend eating less at first when i help people lose weight. Replacing the junk with nutrient rich whole foods is a great first step and getting rid of liquid calories

then ease into calorie reduction and begin moderate exercise

I don't see why you thought the text was post worthy though tbh

all starts with childhood nutrition which you can't do much about at home without government overreach

what you can do is continue to clean up school lunches (which a huge amount of children eat) and get rid of stuff like soda machines on school grounds

sedentary lifestyles among youngsters needs to be combated with physical education becoming a major part of school again as well as more of a push for sports and summer physical activities

I also support doing what we can with resources to make health education more available as well as access to smarter and healthier food choices without breaking the bank for poor people
