Well he can make the claim because the newspapers are filled with anecdotal examples of immigrants committing crimes. Of course these are all propped up by confirmation bias and not actually representative of latino populations. Let's get one thing clear, i hate Trump. That said i dont think the emotional appeal is the best way to combat him, his followers don't care about your feelings or the mexican peoples' feelings. If you want to actually combat him you need to prove to his support base that he's incapable of accomplishing anything as president. His opinion on Mexico isn't his biggest enemy, that's what got him his followers.
I had hoped that by posting this video that some Trump supporters might be able to empathize with the people who are being unfairly portrayed by Trump's campaign speeches. It is 2 minutes and 48 seconds long, and of course will not sway most Trump supporter's opinions on Mexicans... but if it would even make one of those people stop and consider what it would be like to be lumped in with rapists and murderers- just because of where you were born- then I don't consider it a waste of time.
The greatest leaders know that it is not a logical appeal to the masses that will get them the support they need, but that the key to achieving power and greatness is to gain support of the people through
emotion. Unfortunately, when politicians use fear, hate, and anger to gain power over people, it is a damn good indication that such a person will abuse their power greatly. I foresee many more problems for our country than we already have if Trump is elected president and I sincerely hope that people come to their senses before it even comes down to the election.
