I'm seeing this ruling as a step in the right direction. Obviously we won't be seeing any changes soon, but it might force Israel to drop the "we're persecuted" act and own up to their illegal occupation. At least I'll try to remain idealistic about the whole conflict.
I'm in the same boat but for me Israel is a proxy of the United States military. Despite people saying Israel runs America because of "Jewish influence in high places" doesn't change the actuality or reality that Israel is basically being used as a pawn(extension) to continue to stoke the fires of "terrorism" which is an ideology not an entity. That's why the US war or "terror" was meant to be a never ending war/money machine where we say who the bad guys are and we fund the bad guys to make it all look legit and gain emotional support from the citizenry(9/11 and 10/7).
I go as far as to say that the United States uses every other country that's its supposed "ally" as just an extension of its power. The reason it has so many allies isn't because we are bringing "democracy". Countries have learned the hard way that when you try and displace the centralized power the United States has your "people" suffer beyond comprehension.
Don't think any countries are going to "drop nukes" even "small tactical ones" so that's why we still see the same ground warfare we always have.
Don't think the US/Russia/China are really "close to war with one another" they have nothing to gain by being in conflict with one another. That's why they all use proxies to weaken their "enemies". They have the means/capacity other countries simply don't.
This is the same thing I've found to be true with the supposed "freedoms/liberties/privileges" people in the first world take for granted. As soon as a military's decides its citizens are posing a considerable threat to even their own autocratic power they start to use the "lawfare" we see today trying to "ban guns" "ban agriculture" "ban free speech".
The sad reality is that people who don't want power or want to be a part of such a system are totally incapable of overcoming it. That's the game. That's free will. That's absolute power is absolute.
Like you know it's beyond complex for even the average citizens to contemplate such atrocities but by being AWARE of it like you said you can remain idealistic. Ideas don't really change the world like the quote says. An all powerful destructive force does.
Most people just refuse to believe chaos/destruction/misery/pain/etc. are a part of it. What's the true "price" of "peace". Total WAR.
