The Senate voted to reject the baseless articles of impeachment, and only the President’s political opponents – all Democrats, and one failed Republican presidential candidate – voted for the manufactured impeachment articles.

Schiff proclaimed the issues “cannot be decided at the ballot box” – proving once again they think they know better than the voters of this country. This entire effort by the Democrats was aimed at overturning the results of the 2016 election and interfering with the 2020 election.

Throughout this wholly corrupt process, President Trump successfully advanced the interests of the United States and remained focused on the issues that matter to Americans. He spent his time achieving real victories for the people of this country, and the Democrats – once again – have nothing to show for their fraudulent schemes. The President is pleased to put this latest chapter of shameful behavior by the Democrats in the past, and looks forward to continuing his work on behalf of the American people in 2020 and beyond."

Maybe Mitt Romney does not want the executive branch of the government to be able to withhold foreign aid for political favors during election time. Because one the executive is given powers and never lets them go. Congress has just given the executive one more power that's not in the Constitution.

1. Presidents always engage in quid pro quo. Other than militarily, it's the only way they have to influence other countries. Think: withholding aid, or sanctions.
2. The only party illegally trying to influence the elections are the Democrats.
3. Romney is going to spend the next 8 months trying to convince those he represents, that he was justified in NOT supporting his party.
4. As far as branches of govt. go, yes, we just saw the House lose it's bid to take over control of the govt., and at the same time try to fool the American public into thinking that Trump was doing that.

This will probably go down in history as the closest we've come to seeing the failure of the "checks and balances" system set down by the founding fathers.

The only phrase I can think of that accurately describes the behavior of the Democrats in the last 8 years or so is: failed coup attempt.
