Republican lawmakers think your body shuts down in cases of true rape. They're pretty stupid in general.

Clinton happened to preside over the time period during which the post cold war boom coincided with the peak earning years of the baby boomers, the largest cohort in american history.
He signed NAFTA into law, his presidency saw large-scale deindustrialization which weakened the country's tax base, and he further deregulated the financial markets, which added further fuel for the great recession that was to follow 10 years later.

tldr: he had lucky timing, and his economic sins happened to materialize only years after he had left office.

Maybe I phrased my point badly. My point is that Romney's opposition to Trump isnt based on faith or virtue, it's based on huge disagreements with regard to the issues and style.
His histrionic "I swore an oath to god, so his 'Here I stand, I can do no other'" schtick IMHO is just for show.

I wouldnt call it impressive or even courageous. At this point, Romney's political career has reached the end of the road, he's never gonna hold a higher office than his current one, so he basically had nothing to lose by following his conscience/faith/thirst for revenge.

You're quite cynical. It would have been WAY easier for Romney to bite his tongue and vote no just like Murkowski, Collins, etc.

I'm indeed very cynical when it comes to politics and career politicians. ;)

But I'll admit that Romney's faith might have played a role in him choosing the more difficult path instead of biting his tongue. I'll still stand by my judgement, however, that his original desire to vote against Trump comes more from issue and style disagreement than morals or principle. Particularly when keeping in mind how often Romney has flipflopped over his political career.

Watched the whole interview with Romeny and Chris Wallace. Romney toiled hard over this decision. Leave it to a Mormon to follow their moral conscious and do the right thing.
