So let me get this straight

Joe Biden ordered the construction of a $320 million pier off the Gaza coast just so he could make a technical political point of saying we put no boots on the ground to deliver aid, in a profoundly contrived and ineffective way. Then 100% of the aid failed to be delivered to its target, with 70% stolen en route and the operation scuttled. And now we've got a serviceman critically injured in unspecified circumstances

Jesus Joe, I know people drew comparisons to Carter but you weren't supposed to emulate Operation Eagle Claw

It would be funny if it weren't so sad. Very symbolic of US tax usage. Can't get anything done, can't build anything, spend every last dollar on frivolous things with no return on investment.

$320 million... For example, could have built 1500 single family homes for American veterans with land.

You guys know the saying "when luck becomes a habit, it is actually skill".
Israel is getting close to the reverse principle: "when 'tragic errors' become common place, it is actually incompetence".

Netanyahu and Gallant are running an incompetent campaign. They have failed again and again.

Needlessly killing civilians and not even completing the goals that Netanyahu himself set in the beginning; Basically the same Putin in Ukraine.

Israel lost this war.
Time to go out from Gaza and rebuild ourselves.
Problem is that IMO Netanyahu will get elected again.. that really blows my mind.
Netanyahu, Galant and the chief of staff should have be gone in 10/7. Well, maybe two weeks after so a suitable replacement can be found.
Honestly I’m getting more and more depressed each year.. can’t see how Israel maintain itself over the next decade proceeding this way.

There should be no need for the Israelis to panic. The Gaza strip is a small area of land - there are only so many Hamas fighters, tunnels, weapons and caches of ammunition to hide. Inflict heavy damage on Hamas in Rafah then whack-a-mole around the strip until the threat is minimal.

The hostages are a shame though. Something in my bones tells me they may never return because of Hamas' cynical strategy. The only ones found so far have been dead for some time. Meanwhile Hamas is pretending to care about their own civilians while the world is too naive to see the inconsistency. I'm glad Israel isn't falling for it at least.

Awesome, more floating trash to clutter up the waterways. We literally have ancient pre-WWII cargo ships running the great lakes routes still. Greatest generation knew how to make em.

Does the $320 million come from the money appropriated for Israel annual fund or the more recent approved funding? Or this just straight from US taxpayer pocket from POTUS actions?

Do you think Netanyahu can be elected again?

That is worrying because I see the failures as his governments fault, he was also trying to destroy the judiciary to basically become leader for life.
I wouldn't blame all Israelis for his governments bad policies but if he is re-elected. Then those voters are complicit.

The same way Russians are now complicit in Putins madness; Because they like their state pensions paid on time.

IMO, it's a blunder, and obviously not defensible but my point is, you can't have an expectation that things like this won't happen. The nature of wars has always yielded stuff like this. Current nature of this conflict is basically having bad and good fish in a barrel, and Israel is trying to harpoon the couple of bad ones at the bottom. Obviously it will fail and they'll spear some of the other ones in the process.

I seen 1-2 clips which were so horrendous that it's almost impossible to believe. Part of the issues is Hamas has been caught more than a few times inflating/fabricating civilian deaths and I'm like is that a real image or something so bad, specifically designed to illicit as strong a response as possible?

i tend to agree via propaganda, but hard to apply here imo. it was 45 killed in the strike and following fires. an entirely believable number compared to some of the tripe they've peddled.

but striking a refugee camp at all was an idiotic move. if the bank robbers take hostages you take your finger off the trigger, and israel hasn't faced a counteroffensive from hamas in any serious manner in some time. total blunder. they're nearing as close to a victory as they can expect, the timing is inexcusable. if this was war week 1 id agree entirely, but this thing has burned down to ashes and they just tossed on gas at the worst time.

I'd support that. But why stop at 1500 veterans?

Build everybody a house.

His veterans are from the 1600's can hardly blame someone whose country hasn't done heavy lifting in hundreds of years.
