It looked like until 2008 when Obama was the main DNC candidate blacks where almost split between being democrats and independents. I just suspect that the 2016 demographics are going to look closer to the pre 2008 ones rather than the 2008-2012. I'm also curious to see what would happen should an African American run for president on the republican ticket, Ben Carson got a lot of support in the primary's.

Definitely a major change but it was never even close to almost split since 1944. In 2000, it was 88% Democrat/5% Independent /8% Republican. Either you or I are seriously misreading the chart.
