That's a pretty grueling schedule. I see how you mean now. My next question would be how frequently do injuries happen, what's the severity of said injuries, and does the company pay for travel/living onsite or?
Just curious. I knew a guy who had a pretty insane schedule working at a gold mine and the company basically flew everybody out for like 2 or 3 weeks where they work onsite, and then they get 2 weeks off (or whatever), and could fly basically anywhere on the company dime. Pretty neat perk. I still think he was only making like 75k entry though *shrug*.
That's pretty cool, I support the industry that is propping up literally all of society. These climate change weirdos are hilarious. Best not to engage with them though, I think they get paid based on interaction//engagement.
We get every other weekend off. The schedule is tough but that’s life.
There are many oil companies that do a 14/7 schedule and almost every one of them pay for transportation, housing , and $50-100 per deim for living expenses. Those are jobs on the actual rigs usually. My company will put you up in a “man camp” which is basically a trailer park with hundreds of studios for everybody to have their own spot.
The company I am with now manufactures and ships the pipes. injuries are way less common than on the rigs. Every injury is because of people not following the rules. Usually it is a crushed finger, but several people have died doing outrageously stupid shit.

I worked as a sheet metal apprentice which was essentially the same thing. It paid $15 per hour in 2008, today the same construction company pays about $18 for the same role. In short, I think you’re full of shit
So you think because your construction company pays less than an oil company I am lying… The company I am with is a global manufacturer of pipes. Without pipes there is no oil industry. We load hundreds of trucks a day at our location, every single truck carrying millions of dollars worth of product.
A single day’s revenue can pay the salary of everybody at that location. The construction company you worked for wasn’t anywhere near as profitable.
