no it isn't a better analogy. the person who loses has no jurisdiction over the election they just lost. a health inspector has a legal right to inspect businesses.

if an election official allowed someone to "take a look" it would be like letting a cop in thinking they'll just glance around. they'll rip apart your couches and open up the walls.

an election isn't a small thing. you'd be giving them contact info of thousands of people, handing them a few tons of paper ballots, handing them voting machines, offering thousands of hours of surveillance footage, etc. massive amount of work. and based on what? because they lost?

So let’s go with your analogy then. A search warrant is issued by a judge. In this case we are discussing here a judge has allowed the plaintiffs to introduce evidence.

This case isn’t being brought forth simply because “they lost”. There are specific allegations about laws being broken.

If your argument is “get a warrant”, well the Lake campaign already has and the search began days ago.

this is what you said. which i took to mean that an official should voluntarily act. if a judge orders it they have no choice, the judge has the choice.

2. loser cries foul
3. official lets them "take a look"

and im sure in some cases voluntarily handing over that info could be a violation of the law. theres a reason it requires a warrant.
