Have you even read the bill? It was another 100 million dollar pork filled fiasco hidden under the title of "Mental Health".

unlike you, uncritically regurgitating the transparent excuses of NRA bought republicans (who were desperate to justify their opposition to fund their favourite scapegoat "mental health"), i have.
which "pork" was so unacceptable that you support their opposition, and what are their pork-less counter-proposals to address the mental health issue? oh right, there's literally NOTHING.

I don't take issue with saying Scalia is a fairly run of the mill justice.

The problem is he's held up as some god of the bench by conservatives, when really he was highly partisan and ideological. Lots of justices are like that, but if you're going to hold somebody up as a supreme example of great jurisprudence they'd better not be.

the textual interpretation of precedent is conservative. we can posit that he has bias bereft of this, but anyone following the language of decades or centuries old legal rulings literally will come to a conservative conclusion.

conservative people like a guy who is anti-change, even if his stance could have been just following precedent and the literal interpretation of the law without change.

Math is hard.

we can neither accurately say how many people nor how many guns we have. a near 1 to 1 ratio is an estimate, but many figures say we have more guns than people by a small margin, and more guns than legal citizens is a figure all estimates agree on.

Conservatives aren't for original interpretations anymore. I don't think they ever were honestly. They will outright ignore it when it's convenient. Conservatives just use it to justify the positions they already arrived at.

Look at Clarence Thomas recent opinion on the abortion case. Gays need to be reexamined but not interracial marriage despite the source for getting rid of sex based discrimination is in the same place as racial discrimination. Almost like he came up with his position before ever examining the argument.

sure that's true, but people find it easy to support someone in favor of a position they've partially or even fully abandoned. that personal connection gives empathy. and even if mainstream conservatives aren't nearly as originalist as they were say 10 years ago its still for them a far less scary path than new and unproven precedents being issued.

How about the dems voting against the Security Our Schools Act as well as Protect Our Children's Schools Act. Just as guilty just as culpable and just as much blood on their hands

Fender does on almost every topic he injects himself into. He shows some picture he pulled from google depicting republicans voting against something while knowing absolutely nothing about the specifics of the situation.

Last one was Ron Desantis voting against a hurricane relief bill that was billions and billions of dollars worth of bullshit, not realizing right before that he voted for a hurricane relief bill that was actually hurricane relief and the democrats voted it down and came back with the bloated one hoping to ram it through.

The TLDR is fender doesn’t know anything about what he posts, he just hates America for some reason.

And why is it this was brought up in this thread and instead of biting the bullet and admitting the mental health bill proposed was bullshit, the response is “well republicans didn’t bring a new bill”.

Who controls all three branches of government right now? What a weak response from the lefty’s. It’s almost like they did this just to give fender his screenshot of republicans voting against the “happiness and prosperity for everybody bill”.
