again, it might be a "distraction" to you, but for half the population it's much more than that. the fact that you, regardless of personal stance, state that it should have been settled long ago indicates that you're aware that it's a bit more than just fabricated outrage over some meaningless bs.
roe v. wade being on the table again falls squarely on the previous president and republican senate leadership filling the court with religious nutjob activist judges, in order to do something that a significant majority of the population opposes (!) - something we don't mention enough here.

that said, which cases do you think scotus SHOULD focus on to keep you "competitive" with a genocidal dictatorship of 1.4 billion people?

this is a distraction to placate right winged idiots. if i toss a bomb into a kindergarten class so i can rob a bank next door it's still a distraction even if the kids die.

my top priority for the scotus would be campaign finance reform, as its clear congress wont police itself. although im not sure at all what angle would need to be taken to accomplish it. women are indeed becoming 2nd class citizens, and so are all workers. we're staring down hundreds of millions of people losing their livelihood and we're worried about abortion becoming a state's right's issue. i'll vote against pro lifers in my state should it come to that, but no matter who i vote for i know they'll send all our jobs to china or a robot with a smile on their face for their fortune 500 overlords.

campaign finance reform is indeed THE central issue, as everything is connected with it - but it's also something that scotus, especially in its current constellation, would never side with the people on - refer to my previous post (not that the democratic establishment was any better on the issue).

yes, for your ECONOMY, automation and the inability to compete with a nation of 1.4 billion low wage drones on the labour market (no shit?!), might be the bigger issue, but again, there's literally nothing the scotus can do to change that. the existence of economically even more impactful problems doesn't make the conservatives' all out attack on women, minorities, and poor people a mere distraction. textbook relative privation fallacy.

if the scotus makes the legislature subject to the people and not corporations we're half way there.

you're drawing a line between attacks and distraction, something any army general would laugh at. attacks are the best distraction there is. if a flank comes on your supply lines it still needs to be dealt with, even if you also need to be mindful of what that flank is making you ignore.

again, not a chance in its current constellation. specifically picked for their corporate-friendly stances, as discussed during previous confirmation battles.

regarding your inability to admit that conservatives' assault on women's rights is more than just a meaningless distraction, i can only refer you to my previous post: relative privation. roe v. wade does NOT distract scotus from dealing with any of the issues you consider more pressing. they aren't even on the table currently. the only ones even actively pursuing this are the progressives in the democratic party, which you've been so dismissive of throughout the last two election cycles, lol. for conservatives and the democratic establishment, it's the main source of their power and wealth, and the system has been rigged for decades to keep it that way: the corrupt, appointed by the corrupt making sure the system favours those that profit from the same kind of corruption.

i never said meaningless. i said dumb, then later said stupid. those insults were directed towards conservatives who have been convinced that abortion is a tier 1 issue, when it shouldn't at all be. and they should focus their efforts on things like bolstering adoption or making the lives of mothers easier to lower abortion numbers.

as to the scotus i dont think its likely at all they take on campaign finance, but you asked what i think they should work on instead of abortion. what i want and what i think likely are as always drastically different conversations.

agree with the false importance on this issue.
I feel like people like Bobert and MTG, among others exist in office because they are Pro life. All their mental defects and craziness are ignored by the conservatives because they are openly pro life, and connect that with people who aren't are "anti American".
It is top 3 issue for conservatives in the US.

this is the party that thought a 40 billion dollar wall would solve immigration. not big thinkers.
