hm, i guess it really depends on how you met your partner and how you define "relationship". i always found the "dating" ritual that i observed through american media kind of weird. my own experience is very different in that i met my girlfriends through common interests (sports), at university, or through mutual acquaintances, meaning i've never uses any dating apps or services - i just imagine that if you did that, invested a lot of time, emotions, and maybe money into a relationship, only to find out later that your partner is a trans woman or man (and that's a complete deal-breaker for you), you'd be kind of disappointed in them and feel somewhat betrayed.
now i'm totally open to arguments as to why that might technically not be the case, this is just my personal opinion of course - but since sex is an important part of most romantic relationships, i feel like this is something that people should disclose early on, in order not to "mislead" their potential partners.
