The integrity of voting in a democratic system is paramount. We do not need conclusive evidence of a systemic plot by either the Democratic, Republican, Libertarian, Green or whatever other party in order to take basic steps to protect the integrity of our elections and ensure that the general public has faith in the outcomes.
As I just said, there is really no case for systemic disenfranchisement if IDs are made available free of charge to the general public.
When laws are constructed specifically to benefit a particular party machine, as happens to some extent everywhere, my expectation is that the courts will step in and strike those individually egregious laws down.
