you honestly think you're saving lives wearing a mask?
did you wear a mask year round prior to covid? I mean the flu and pneumonia like illnesses which kill the same amount of people covid has, and have similar survival rates could easily kill these sick or elderly people just as easy as covid.

Fake news. The estimated infection fatality rate (IFR) of covid-19 is around 0.5-0.6%, that of the flu is 0.1%. Additionally, with the flu, there is less of a delay between the onset of symptoms and the start of contagiousness. Covid-positive persons being highly infectious 1-2 days before the onset of their own symptoms is what makes stopping this virus such a pain in the ass.

isn't the transmission of asymptomatic people extremely low though?

I said similar, I would say a .2-4 % difference is in the ball park of similar, I never said the same.

I wore a mask whenever i was sick as a courtesy to others before covid came around. I understand that if I have the coronavirus I'm less likely to put others at risk by wearing a mask which is why i do it.

around 650k (estimated, on the high end) annually of the flu worldwide.
2.5 million + of pneumonia type deaths worldwide annually.

google it yourself

considering there has no longer been "flu" or "pneumonia" deaths in the last 9 or so months.
everything is covid.

you would be the only person I have ever met in my entire life to wear a mask regularly prior to covid.
but key words in your sentance was "when you were sick"

healthy people should not "have" to wear masks.

Ok so just lies again then?
Just for the record covid-19 has not been around for a year and has 380,000 deaths more than your flu figure..

you can literally google both of the numbers yourself, and find them factual.
are you daft? or just trolling. I honestly can't tell.

IF it was that easy for you to use google you would know covid has killed 1.038 million already..
Your flu figure of 650k is much lower..
Covid has not even been around for a year..
The flu has been around for hundreds..

In colloquial, non-scientific language, most people use the term "asymptomatic" to encompass both actual asymptomatic cases and pre-symptomatic ones.
Preliminary data shows that genuine asymptomatic patients only account for a negligible share of covid infections, but pre-symptomatic ones account for around 35% of all transmissions.

The difference between the flu's IFR of 0.1% and covid's IFR of around 0.6% is gigantic. Covid is 6 times as lethal as the flu based on these numbers.
