The big issue I have with Marx is his tendency towards vague generalizations and lack of statistical context. IE Marx said that cities in the 1800's were prone to poverty/ghettoes, but in reality starvation was much more common in the rural areas by as much as 10x, it was just far more visible in cities. This assault of unfounded assumptions happened with nearly every topic he touched.
That's some tough timing on your part. Glad the layoffs haven't touched you. That's the trend in almost any big organization these days though, to cut to the bare minimum to make the operating costs look good on paper. Its very bad business in the long term because you make the good employees want to flee to greener pastures. Only the small organizations seem to be able avoid the wrath of the stockholders. Its not an ideal system, but I still prefer it over being unemployed or at the mercy of government handouts.
A lot of his predictions were wrong but so were Plato's. Marx was at a time where the philosophy of political economy was finally turning into political science, sociology, economics, etc, and I'm grateful for his role in the change from the philosophic to the scientific.
He's the guy who said that philosophers have described the world but the point is to change it. Marx, Weber, Durkheim, Ricardo, all important.

Actually... what happened is we DIDN'T elect Hillary.
It took me a serious amount of reading to find out where this topic went... insane.
At the moment, the Democratic party is... nuts. The Republican party is by no means... wonderful, but at least it's moderately sane. I thin k the phrase "attempted coup" explains it all. The Dems have obviously broken from the Constitution, and that is far more dangerous than having Trump as a president.
As for the input from the Euro crowd... thank you, but no. I think you folk should be worrying about your... survival at the moment. Rightly, IMO, the US is finally pulling out of as much of the "global" BS as it can. The world is a very long way from a global community and pretending otherwise is just not very realistic. It seems that most of the other wester-like 1st world countries... really WANT the US to take on the burden of "keeping the peace", all over the place. Only problem with that is that they want to "control" how we do it.
Here's a tip. You want control, then YOU do it. We don't "work" for you. We've tried to work "with" you, but you don't want to treat us as equals. (We ARE a very young country, so in that respect we aren't really equal... yet). Honestly, though, if you folk don't get your shyt together, and fast, you won't be around much longer. I, for one, would consider that a loss... but not to the point that I think the US should run around doing all the grunt work for you folk.
You had your chance at keeping the US "under your thumb", about 300 years ago and you missed or screwed up, that opportunity.
Even afterwards, you cleverly pulled the wool over our eyes for quite a long time... but we're learning. In short, you wanna run things, fine, do your own grunt work. ^^
For the Americans, in here who somehow went seriously "off the beam"... get your shyt together. The US is never gonna be communist or socialist or a true Democracy (aka, mob rule), deal with it.
Ben Franklin... fuckin' eh!
/e If you think I'm mistaken in my summary of the crap in this topic...just look at how Saucy thinks of the US. Too stupid to think for ourselves. All summed up in one pic. :D
/ee Last but not least...the 5th District in Minnesota is about 2 seconds away from Sharia Law.
You had a primary and Trump made cucks out of GOP leadership.
