But we can't just address every stupid thing anyone believes. Especially if it's easily disproved with a simple google search. Some things are just too dumb to bother wasting time with. It's not 'deplatforming'. It's saying that someone who clearly knows fuck all about a subject isn't worth arguing with over that subject until they've learned more about it. If they can't learn any more because of some mental block or illness then that's tough really. Doesn't mean we have to take their opinions seriously or even give them the time of day. The only thing worth saying maybe is 'That's wrong. Go look it up.' Those that can't manage that are never going to change their silly beliefs anyway.

u can choose to set a threshold of intelligence for the right to speak to you, but let's be honest, you get your kicks out of shouting down people you don't find smart all the time. you're not even close to consistent on this front. If i made an alt account as a young earth creationist i could have you spouting geological studies inside of 5 post.

I engage trolls because I find the conversations are often interesting and worth having. Even if their arguments are ridiculous I learn a lot by arguing against them. Arguing against flat earthers, evolution deniers, YECs and even just regular Christians has benefitted me greatly. At no point should any of their positions be taken seriously however. They're all as ridiculous as eachother... Excepting straight up Christians. They're slightly less ridiculous than YECs and Flat Earthers... but only slightly.

i agree, i just find that sentiment and "are worthy only of mocking dismissal or being ignored" to be not the same. i prefer the spotlight to sweeping under the rug or jokes at their expense. although i should say jokes are their expense is a good idea regardless.

People that are of the impression that they have been appointed judge over other people, when they haven't, really need some expert help.
