I wish Colin Powell had the desire to be president. Exit polls suggested he would have destroyed Clinton in 1996. None of these idiots know what in the hell they're doing.

I'd be cool with that.

There's not many moderate military guys who could have a legit run for the presidency. Plus, it'd be funny if Republicans put a black one in right after the Democrats.

Colin Luther Powell is an American statesman and a retired four-star general in the United States Army. He was the 65th United States Secretary of State, serving under U.S. President George W. Bush from 2001 to 2005, the first African American to serve in that position.

Hmmmm. guess we jumped the gun on the Democrats on that one.

I think Colin Powell would have been a modern day Eisenhower if he would have ran in 1996. Brilliant man who cares more about getting the job done right than anything else. Will change his mind if it's better for the country to do so. Tried to get a Security Council Resolution on Iraq not because he thought the invasion was the right thing to do but because he knew it was going to happen anyway and he'd rather serve his country than divide it by resigning in the middle of a war and directly prior to another one.

World would really be different now if he was president.

Military men don't question orders, they give their opinion if asked then follow orders. Eisenhower is one of greatest presidents in US history and he was exactly like Powell.

Well, Powell is moderate because he has moderate views, but he's also moderate because he has little party allegiance. He would be more willing to compromise than any other candidate(of either party).

Um, what does this have to do with Powell and his milquetoastyness? On issues, he is uninspiring.

A wonderful trait. The Greeks and Romans thought temperance a virtue for a reason.

Just because he doesn't share them with the public doesn't mean he has no strong opinion on issues.

So you want someone to be president/think they would be good, and you have no idea what his views are?

He has plenty of opinions, but isn't a blowhard. Most would be presidential candidates are quick to flaunt their very strong opinions to the media. Powell doesn't do that. I have a pretty clear understanding on what Powell's views are.
