Tell that to Dawkins. He's won hundreds of thousands.

Dawkins isn't anywhere near as bad though, plus he's actually an academic (one of the most important of our time)

He has said much more condescending things than are in this quote. I'm sure I don't have to find examples... I know nothing of this guy's qualifications but the qualifications of the man are irrelevant to the content of the quote.

e/ in fact he has said pretty much the exact same thing about ridiculing religion.

Maybe my respect for Dawkins is just making me biased, but it does appear he's softened his edge a bit.

Dawkins' statements in general just strike me as being thoughtful and carefully considered rather than emotional and/or elitist which is kind of how I feel about the quote from Condell.

Fair... So we've reduced 'innacurate' to 'something you, personally, are uncomfortable with' then?

I thought we had agreed that there was insufficient context.

I believe there is... to make such an assertion as that it is inaccurate. But I suppose I can't agree with it without knowing it's context either.

Richard Dawkins, author of The God Delusion, said of Condell that "Pat Condell is unique. Nobody can match his extraordinary blend of suavity and savagery. With his articulate intelligence he runs rings around the religious wingnuts that are the targets of his merciless humour. Thank goodness he is on our side"

i just found it funny, whatever Dawkins cannot be compared to a humorist

The four "consciousness-raising" messages contained in Dawkins book "The God Delusion":

1. Atheists can be happy, balanced, moral, and intellectually fulfilled.

2. Natural selection and similar scientific theories are superior to a "God hypothesis"—the illusion of intelligent design—in explaining the living world and the cosmos.

3. Children should not be labelled by their parents' religion. Terms like "Catholic child" or "Muslim child" should make people cringe.

4. Atheists should be proud, not apologetic, because atheism is evidence of a healthy, independent mind.

This claim is really quite untenable. I know a few people who were raised atheist and have never given any religion a second thought. Are you really going to claim that they have a more "independent mind" than someone who looked at different religions and chose the one that most appealed to them, despite it being different from the one they were raised in?
