That doesn't mean the Iranian government can't still acquire the necessary power and resources to continue it's program.

Well the best course of action would be to kind of nudge the Arab spring toward the Persians and facilitate that.

Last election they took to the streets...that was before tyrants were being dragged through the streets and shot.

You guys are forgetting the allies that would help us if we were to go to war. Israel alone would send everything they had to take Iran down.

Iran would have nobody but themselves. The "war" wouldn't last long because Iran has a more structured government than Iraq had. We would be fighting their army, not terrorists with bombs strapped to their chest. That is what Iraq mostly had. Will their be "freedom fighters" in Iran? Sure. But not nearly the amount that Iraq had.

There's a strife now between Khamenei and Ahmadinejad too. The civil unrest has it's effects in Iran too.

Yeah, Khamen's faction did well in the parliamentary elections and Ahmadinejad's reformer coterie didn't...there is division there.

At least there is some political diversity there, even if it's conservative vs. ultra-conservative.

€1.83/L at the local pump. Fun times.

That would be ~€7,- or around $9.15/gallon for US.

I have free public transport, so it's not much of a big deal for me ;) Yay for eurocommies.

Yeah, distances aren't that big. But traffic jams are plentiful, and thus it can easily take 2 hours to do 50-60 miles.

I loved the autobahn while I loved there. Didn't do much driving outside of Germany though, except to the Netherlands.
Anywhere else we took the ICE train.
