i understand the crew having to follow protocol but if the only thing standing between me not being a hostage and freedom is a guy with a box blade i'd fight. giving up and being a hostage right away is bullshit especially when the numbers were so stacked for the hostages. when you allow yourself to become a victim is when you can expect it to end badly imo.

doubt all you want ive been hurt far worse than a cut by a box knife. worst case=throat slash but thats probably not going to be the case if you rush them. a blade that small isnt hardly a threat in close quarters. first guy up is the only one that has a chance to be hurt but by the time you are grabbing the guys arm others are already going to be helping. its a ripple effects once one person takes a stand and thats been shown time and time again. it was also shown that it was possible since another flight did it.

Think all you want but in the end there's a huge difference between sitting at a computer thinking you know what to do and being on a plane never thinking in a million years your plane would never be hijacked and it happens. In the end none of us can know what we would do in that situation until we are in it.

ive risked my life for others before so i can pretty well say id of risked my life if i was there.

not everyone is scared of doing whats right. i honestly feel sorry for people who think its some super hero type thing to stand up to someone with a tiny knife when its 10:1 numbers in your favor.

It's not about what's right, it's about not knowing what's going to happen. Bank robbery: you going to go tackle the guy? Generally not. All they want is money and they'll be on the way, caught by police within a few days. Same with hijackers prior to 9/11. Based on current situation and knowledge, it was the rational thing to do.
