There's a lot of mixed reporting on that regard. He may have been gay, or was bullied by people accusing him of being gay. Unclear what was on the discord account but it sounds more like 4chan memes making fun of trannies, rather than a radical trans motive.
I'm not sure sex identity had any actual role in this shooting, most likely not. It was clearly the case with the nashville shooter last year and why the authorities tried to suppress the manifesto
