Hamas derives it's power from the people. If the people are living well, working, getting richer, it would be difficult for Hamas to continue to get the recruits. Like I'm imagining a world in which the Palestinians in Gaza where spread all across Egypt, Jordan, Syria, Lebanon, Saudi Arabia, and so on over the last 50 years. Put down roots, build businesses, build wealth. You think some extremists trying to talk a young person into going on suicidal Jihad would work? Idk, I'm skeptical of it, at least not on this same scale. It works in Gaza because it's an endless cycle of misery and it's easy to externalize the blame. I feel like it would be a much more difficult sale if they were spread out and living better.
I still don't get why it'd be that difficult. Even today, 2 million people spread over countries with a combined population of like 300+ is doable. I mean look at the amount of refugees/migrants EU took in from all cross ME, Africa, Ukraine, etc. Multiple millions in the last few years, it'd be cool if the Sunni neighbors could step up to the plate.
That is the reason why Singapore did rather well in that sense. We make sure that the Singaporean Muslim's (Sunni) income is quadruple that of neighboring Muslim Countries.
They don't have that reason to create terrorist groups anymore to take back what was "supposedly" theirs.
They even think the neighboring muslim brothers are low level and slightly uncivilized ( not all ) but especially those fundamentalist ( Hamas like Muslims ) from North of Malaysia and Aceh region of Indonesia.
But then again it weird, the Muslims in South East Asia are slightly more mild in that sense as compared to the Middle East region. But they do share similar characteristic during riots.
You should have heard the stories in Indonesia during the 1997 Anti Indo-Chinese uprising in Indonesia. You get 50 to 100 crazy Fundamentalist Muslims going into a house in Indonesia and gang rape 5 to 8 year old Indo Chinese Ethnic girls. As in 50 to 1. I mean these IndoChin families have been there for 4 to 5 generations.
But they get ......... because of their skin color and Non Muslim status. The government tried to help but can't do anything.
