Ok so sex scandal a big phony, figured that given the ridiculous nature. Briefings a bit of a mixed bag in terms of newsworthy, mainly because Trump's been downplaying the effect of fake news while getting briefed on it behind closed doors. but is there any word on the report that Trump was in contact with Russia as far back as 2012? and i wonder what the context was for needing an example of fake news.

also anyone wanna pivot to conflict of interest issues now that this seems rather resolved? with kushner and his sons taking the business that seems to be a more fruitful topic.

New York Times accuses CNN of peddling FAKE NEWS
And the punchline, where the NYT essentially accuses both CNN and BuzzFeed of stooping to the level of "fake news" disseminators:
Of particular interest was the use of unsubstantiated information from anonymous sources, a practice that fueled some of the so-called fake news — false rumors passed off as legitimate journalism — that proliferated during the presidential election.

hahahahahhahahahahha

no no no, this will be resolved when Buzzfeed is bankrupt and (C)NN loses its press credentials for 1000 years

ok so to summarize the utterly retarded angle of that top story.

all new agencies have dipped their toes in "fake news" for the last few years and beyond, but now fake news is a newsworthy topic. So news agency A writes a news story about news agency B writing a fake news story.

my god, its come full circle.

Anything that was legitimate in the report is gonna get overshadowed even if the CIA didn't do anything wrong, just by how it was reported out of the gates. It might get post-mortemed and they'll decide to never again include examples of contrasting non-intelligence.
The conflict of interest topic has some poisoned lines of attack also, because it was hillary clinton who set the precedent that kushner is using, Bill gave her a white house role in the same loophole of "nepotism only applies to appointments to federal positions not the white house"

I've posted that stuff in here weeks ago, and it just got glossed over. But this is the real crux of the problem with Trump...his business dealings around the world leave him quite vulnerable to manipulation by foreign interests.

from a CNN standpoint i'm not sure they care, they just got a massive ratings boost post election that lined their pockets. I'm sure before running it they considered a worst case hoax scenario and this passed the cost/benefit.

i could care less about HRC, i didn't want her to win either. Kushner is to me only somewhat troubling. how could we possibly ensure that Eric and Jr aren't colluding with daddy? are they going to cut contact? I see a pile of Trump contracts for the wall that reek of Halliburton in the future...

The document, a dossier prepared by a former British intelligence officer hired by Mr. Trump’s political opponents, had been circulating among high-ranking politicians and some journalists since the fall. Intelligence officials recently presented a two-page summary of the allegations to Mr. Trump and President Obama, CNN reported on Tuesday.

Mother Jones, a left-leaning publication, published an article in late October about the existence of the information. Newsweek also published some of the allegations.

Immediately after BuzzFeed’s publication, some reporters volunteered that they, too, had received copies of the report. “Raise your hand if you too were approached with this story,” Julia Ioffe, a journalist who has written extensively on Russia, wrote on Twitter, adding that she had not reported on the information in the document “because it was impossible to verify.”

one has the two-page synopsis with all the 'salacious details' as a critical component of the briefing, the other has it as used for the purposes of showing 'an example of unverified misinformation'
gee i wonder

it is in the NBC link.

No it isn't. And no CNN's report said no such thing about the verifiability of the contents.
