is it just me or did this story not make as big a splash with the casual voters as the ole' "Hilary's e-mails" thing back in 2016? back then, it seems like every other word was "what about the e-mails".

Hillary broke the rules and acted suspiciously when she used a private email server. This point was never in question.
She probably broke the law when she destroyed her emails instead of providing them for the investigations. This point was never in question.


So there was a much more of a reasonable suspicion than with the Hunter Biden story, where this initial suspicion is not clear and kinda up in the air. It's hard to tell the smoke from the fire, whereas everyone could see the fire with their own eyes when it came to Hillary's emails.
Another key difference is that the whole Hunter Biden saga only indirectly affects Joe Biden; by the time there were emails purportedly showing Joe involved in a personal gain scheme, most people had already tuned out.

I'm struggling to understand how the Bobulinski revelations are a big deal.

We all hopefully remember that Trump was aware of Michael Cohen(and Felix Sater) trying to get a Moscow tower deal done on his behalf while he was running for president. Trump lied about this during the campaign.

So assume everything this guy says is true for the sake of argument... how is it fundamentally different than what Trump did?

If Bobulinkski's claims are true, I think it's bad. But I say that as someone who gave a shit about the same sort of thing when Trump did it, so I have some credibility on the issue. Cultists have no credibility on this.

And this is the consequence of being in the "nothing matters" coalition. There's a long list of bad things that when other politicians do them, you can't criticize it without being a hypocrite.
