I think you need to compare SKs testing numbers to a "state" of similar size, and not the entire US. Just the physical distribution of test kits is a much bigger problem in the entire US.

/e Keep in mind that disinformation campaigns are nothing new, either.

The comparison gets even worse then, as now you're only comparing 1-2 states to a country of 51 million people (I say 1-2, as S Korea has 50% more people than California, in a country the size of Indiana.

True... but the "distribution" is tiny, distance wise.

Coronavirus leads Ohio to delay election despite judge's refusal

WASHINGTON (Reuters) - Ohio will postpone its presidential nominating election planned for Tuesday, despite a judge’s refusal to endorse a postponement, because the public health emergency caused by the coronavirus makes it too dangerous, Governor Mike DeWine said.

Ohio will continue to collect absentee ballots and hopes to hold the primary on June 2.

Georgia, Louisiana and Kentucky have postponed primaries that had been set for March 24, April 4 and May 19, respectively.
EARLY VOTING SURGE

Illinois’ state board of elections said much of the voting for the state primary already had been done, with 504,000 early votes cast and 294,000 ballots mailed in as of Monday - a substantial increase from the day before the 2016 primary, when those numbers were 400,000 and 160,000 respectively.

Matt Dietrich, a spokesman for the board, said: “At this point, there is no date in the foreseeable future when we can expect greater safety with any certainty.”

Florida, the largest state to vote on Tuesday, has also experienced a surge in early voting.

About 1.1 million Democratic ballots had been cast by mail or at early voting centers through Sunday, a state party official said. In the 2016 primary, about 890,000 Democrats voted early, representing just over half of the party’s 1.7 million votes in that year’s primary.

Arizona Secretary of State Katie Hobbs wrote on Twitter on Monday that the state government was working to keep Election Day “safe and accessible.”

Following his first one-on-one debate with Biden in Washington on Sunday - which had no studio audience to limit possible exposure to the virus - Sanders questioned the wisdom of voting on Tuesday.

“I’m thinking about some of the elderly people who are sitting behind the desks, registering people, doing all that stuff. Does that make a lot of sense? Not sure that it does,” Sanders told CNN.

I'd imagine this will be a problem for the Dems. The Republicans won't have to share the risks that the Dems will.

What is truly scary is the people's reactions to the Coronavirus. Just take one good look at the Supermarkets. People are stockpiling up on food and there have been fights in stores. The shelves are all but empty and lines can be more than 100 meters long.

The general population's reaction to this is more dangerous than the virus itself, dare I say. The perfect example is when you go shopping.

loooooooooooool copy pasta of Trump quotes:

January 22: “We have it totally under control. It’s one person coming in from China. It’s going to be just fine.”
February 2: “We pretty much shut it down coming in from China.”
February 24: “The Coronavirus is very much under control in the USA… Stock Market starting to look very good to me!”
February 25: “CDC and my Administration are doing a GREAT job of handling Coronavirus.”
February 25: “I think that's a problem that’s going to go away… They have studied it. They know very much. In fact, we’re very close to a vaccine.”
February 26: “The 15 (cases in the US) within a couple of days is going to be down to close to zero.”
February 26: “We're going very substantially down, not up.”
February 27: “One day it’s like a miracle, it will disappear.”
February 28: “We're ordering a lot of supplies. We're ordering a lot of, uh, elements that frankly we wouldn't be ordering unless it was something like this. But we're ordering a lot of different elements of medical.”
March 2: “You take a solid flu vaccine, you don't think that could have an impact, or much of an impact, on corona?”
March 2: “A lot of things are happening, a lot of very exciting things are happening and they’re happening very rapidly.”
March 4: “If we have thousands or hundreds of thousands of people that get better just by, you know, sitting around and even going to work — some of them go to work, but they get better.”
March 5: “I NEVER said people that are feeling sick should go to work.”
March 5: “The United States… has, as of now, only 129 cases… and 11 deaths. We are working very hard to keep these numbers as low as possible!”
March 6: “I think we’re doing a really good job in this country at keeping it down… a tremendous job at keeping it down.”
March 6: “Anybody right now, and yesterday, anybody that needs a test gets a test. They’re there. And the tests are beautiful…. the tests are all perfect like the letter was perfect. The transcription was perfect. Right? This was not as perfect as that but pretty good.”
March 6: “I like this stuff. I really get it. People are surprised that I understand it… Every one of these doctors said, ‘How do you know so much about this?’ Maybe I have a natural ability. Maybe I should have done that instead of running for president.”
March 6: “I don't need to have the numbers double because of one ship that wasn't our fault.”
March 8: “We have a perfectly coordinated and fine tuned plan at the White House for our attack on CoronaVirus.”
March 9: “This blindsided the world.”
March 13: "I am declaring a National Emergency."
March 13: “I don’t take responsibility at all."

German Ministry of Health on Saturday, March 14: "There are fake news spreading online, claiming that the Ministry of Health/the Federal Government are planning massive restrictions to public life. This is NOT TRUE!! Please help to stop the spread of such fake news."
Federal Government on Monday, March 16: "We have to shut down most public life."

Truth be told, all Western governments struggled to grasp the force of this pandemic and come to terms with the economically crippling measures necessary to slow it down. Trump's handling of the crisis was extra bad, and as usual, he made a complete and total fool of himself. But aside from a particularly inconsistent messaging, the level of failure by the Trump administration isnt really much different from that of other Western governments.

Trump's first crisis in his presidency and he failed hard. Bush by comparison had 9/11 which was much worse, a national trauma, and he did do better, and he is judges way more harshly.

I just want to know when he crosses the line and people like you, who have been enabling and making excuses for him and holding everybody else to impossible standards, will start to turn on him, and more or less shatter your faith in this man. And I mean with, because you cultists have completely rejected reason and evidence as fake news.

that orange glow on your lips is something to behold...

obviously your false equivalence and whataboutisms won't change the fact that trump didn't just fail to predict what exact measures would be appropriate at any given stage (which i agree developed very rapidly in the last week, which caught many nations off guard), but he actively spread misinformation for selfish reasons, deliberately lied about the virus, made promises that were just plain wrong at the time he made them - and in addition to that, previously defunded his nation's response to such a pandemic (and then of course denied it, and refuses to take ANY responsibility). so yes, it IS very much different from the response of other western governments. stop being such a cheerleader...

I will start to turn on Trump when there is a better alternative, someone whose combined score of policy and executive skills is a better fit for my preferences than Trump's.

Apart from that, I made a substantial argument that Trump's messaging was particularly bad, but that the response by his administration wasnt actually different from those of other Western administrations. Do you have anything substantial to say to that? Or is your response limited to a hollow "ha, you defended Trump, you're a cultist"?
