Well, I think there's layers to your question, that are both historical and present-day. Did Hamas come to power by a coup? No. But when was the last time a vote took place in Gaza? 2006, where I believe Hamas won 44% of the total vote, and did not win a majority in any individual region of Gaza. Subsequently, they utilized violence and murder to cement their power, and there has not been an election since. Very few of Gaza's present-day population voted during this election--let alone for Hamas, especially since nearly 50% of Gaza's population wasn't even alive during the 2006 election.

Present-day Palestinians have some views that should also be taken into consideration alongside other factors, such as Support for Hamas v. Whether Hamas Committed Atrocities as Measured by Video Evidence Watched from 10/7. For example:

Perhaps I misunderstood. Allow me to ask you this and figure out your position.

Is Hamas responsible for the current war?

"who provoked the war" is clearly an over-simplification: Israel is directly responsible for Hamas existence. The far right Likud party was waiting for this to get an excuse to proceed some kind of ethnic cleasing, as simple as that.
Hamas are terrorists, no doubt about that, and those who enabled them are worse (and for sure more dangerous for Europe).

Hamas is responsible for the assassination of a thousand Israelis, and in return Israel is reponsible for the assassination of ... LIke what ? 40.000 Palestinians ?
You can't get the answer you want, who provoked the rise of Hamas in first place, who is on watch for warcrimes ? I provided the sources, NO ONE argued against these sources i posted.

Instead it was just personal attacks like i am "supporting" terrorists . No I am not supporting these terrorists and criminals/assassins.
Both could eliminate each others I'm not involved. I'm only worried about the genocide. I also posted about this btw:

And if the suffering is meant to facilitate those outcomes, then in the absence of those outcomes, there is no limit or stop to the infliction of suffering?

What does it mean to "bring them to their knees" in the real-world setting, specific to this conflict?

In modern times, technology makes it entirely possible to eliminate the few Hamas overseers while keeping a vast majority of the civilians alive.

USA used some really clever tricks to do things like this during the Gulf war. If Israel does flush out Rafah, not only will it be a win, but it will be with minimal civilian loss.

The Israelis are being very lenient on Rafah. If they do move, I suspect they will be very careful and surgical in their choice of actions.

If the Hamas leaders are rooted out, the group will have no choice but to disappear or surrender.

So now that Rafah will get razed, I'm just curious what Gaza looks like after this war is over. From pictures/video it looks like large % of urbanized centers are bombed out, crumbled, etc. What happens to the ~2million left? Rebuild the ruins and live there as normal? (feel like would be prohibitively expensive and who will actually pay for it?), tent cities and indefinitely reliant on foreign aid? Slowly wait for these people to be pushed into Europe/US?
