it's some ego thing, for some reason it's like the end of the world for him to acknowledge being wrong on anything

the mature thing ofc would be to take every mistake as a learning experience and there isn't really much to feel humiliated or embarrassed about - sadly he never really matured that much despite being a 60 years old
