I wonder what the motivation/plan from Israel is for them to want to engage in such tit for tat behavior that runs the potential of continuing to escalate things into a regional war.

the motivation/plan, from what I gather, from reading their news (i.e. jewish media) seems to run like this:

"hit them so hard that they will never get back up and be a threat to us ever again. Only through absolute victory can we prevail. we cannot compromise, we cannot negotiate as that will over time allow them to get stronger. we have to hit them now." It is in their DNA to hit back twice as hard. I have no idea how far down the line they are thinking of consequences, but they probably keep coming back to "we have to strike or else we are not safe".

You guys never dealt with bullies in the middle east you have no idea how that works.
You think in western civilization ways, and so is Israel until October 7th.
If Israel wont strike back and strike hard this wont end, we know it because we didnt strike back when the first rocket was shot at us and look where we are now
