Incorrect. Entitlement spending is the only worthless spending in the current year. Military spending has held constant for 50+ years.

Not a statistical argument.

Not a statistical argument.

Just because there haven't been significant spikes in defense spending as a percentage of GDP (compared to WWI/WWII) doesn't mean it isn't too high to begin with. If we don't have bases all over the world, we don't have to spend as much for defense.

Whaaaat? A president who doesn't care about the profits of the military-industrial complex? Liberals must be proud.

I agree with our overstretched foreign involvement. Its still an order of magnitude less than entitlement waste though.

My friend's dad works at Boeing as a software engineer, I asked him about Trump's comments about Boeing recently. He basically said nobody gives a shit about Trump's tweets even if they respond with platitudes. The drops are made up in a few days because people know these are stable companies and it's basically just a discount to buy in.

I'm getting quite the fan club. Gotta say though, I don't think I'll enjoy it as much as Spel does.

That makes sense, but when Trump's tweets turn into action it'll have real consequences for these huge corporations.

It's highly unlikely they will actually turn to action. Nobody except Boeing is outfitted to make an Air Force One at the current cost. The startup cost for another company would mean it would be more expensive to produce.

Similarly with Lockheed and the F35. If we can get a comparable bomber from somebody else, we're either already doing it or it's not possible at a better price.

e/ I'm not meaning getting another company started, I'm meaning the cost to put together the division to start making an Air Force One, in case that wasn't clear.

I thought multiple companies were part of the contract for Air Force One?

You're probably right as far as the air force one/f35, but I don't think Lockheed's CEO is bullshitting when she says they will cut the cost. Trump's not one who forgets, and he has no problem focusing on ticky tack things like the cost of the F35 program.

In the end it's congress that sends spending, and Trump isn't going to veto a budget over the cost of an F35. I mean, he might, but it would be supremely retarded and cost him a lot of points with the american people. Remember congress is still full of Republicans who want to pad the pockets of defense contractors.
