Correct, it's the name of the main character's radio show.

If I named my radio show "Dear Black People" and a documentary was made would you believe it had no racial or political implications?

Whatever the fuck it is. Dear Black People, Dear White People has clear racial and political implications which make it different than some normal show title.

It is a fictional film (and now series) about a controversial black figure who starts a radio show that is incredibly divisive and is met with praise and hatred and criticism of racism. It is an analysis of this complex dynamic of different opinions on race.

Obviously it has racial and political implications, that's its subject matter.

Weird how Silence of the Lambs had such little backlash when obviously it had pro-murder and pro-cannibalism implications.

A controversial black figure who starts a radio show that is incredibly divisive, met with praise and hatred and criticism of racism. Named Dear White People. Produced by a white dude who tweeted "fuck white people" because they voted for Trump. Also leaving out the fact that a higher percentage of blacks and Hispanics voted for Trump than Romney 4 years ago.

Expecting an accepting response from a country(especially online) that elected Trump is silly.

It's based on a film so the creator of the series isn't really relevant.

I know expecting an accepting response is silly, people are far too stupid for me to expect them to actually watch the thing before assuming what it's about.

Sure, just like if I created some tv series or documentary named "Dear Black People" it would get hate before the content was revealed. Reality is reality.

Yes. Doesn't mean I can't be annoyed by it.
