in a base sense, yes. but in another sense the type of officer who can commit legally justified murder and remain on the force without much mental anguish is not the kind of cop you want on the force in the first place.
suicide by cops papers often cite the tangential effect this has on the lives of officer and desensitizing them for the rest of their life of duty. it can have some nasty ripple effects.
just as the same effect is observed with prison guards and the link bordering on causal that is seen with spousal abuse. hard to get many good studies as the polling biases are outrageous but it is generally understood thats a job, as well as being a cop, that changes people for the worse.
