The simple act of not covering issues did Trump a MASSIVE favor. Trump didn't even win on economic issues on exit polling. They covered scandals, and they covered Hillary's e-mails more than any other Trump scandal.
They may have effused daily praise for Hillary (because she had a coherent framework for policy whereas Trump did not) but there wasn't anything near Joe. If Maddow had been caught heaping praise in a private voicemail, had given Hillary the interview questions to prepare for so she could seem competent, and basically worked the shaft throughout the entire election cycle there would have been hell to pay. Not so much when it's a right wing host on a left wing network.
exit polling? Kerry is president based off exit polling.
so one guy on one network liked Trump. The vast majority of the rest of the tv and print media did their best to trip him up at every possible turn. besides which, does Joe Scarborough have that much influence? do liberals watching MSNBC in the morning look at him, listen to him, and say "you know what fuck it i'm voting for the Republican"?
you actually think a gay female anchor would have 'hell to pay' for strongly supporting (C)linton in the same fashion? ok
and lets not talk about getting questions to prepare in advance for things to look good, (C)linton got those for a debate or four with Bernie and even got his questions so she could provide a rebuttal to his expected response.

i watched morning joe every morning for the entire cycle. by far the most scornful of HRC over the email scandal was Mika. it wasn't even close.
so she was hard on her on a major issue - rightfully so
